Dear all! We are very happy that tomorrow we will have a guest lecture by Daniah Alsaleh! Thursday, 22.01, at 10:00 am in Room 101. Daniah will introduce her work within the framework of the Backbone of Photography seminar. Please come and let’s hear Danish’s work approach and engage in a discussion together! Daniah Alsaleh’s work reflects on memory and cultural conditioning: how messages and beliefs are absorbed and delivered via media and other networks. She questions behavioural patterns and paradigms in the everyday, examining  things that we take for face value, by destabilising the mainstream assumptions that form the basis of this conditioning. Her work deconstructs accepted meanings and suggest alternative positions. She looks at the ordinary, the mundane, the ubiquitous of things by looking into  cultural tropes,  memory, connectedness and division. November, 19 Uhr. Eintritt frei. In ihrer Ausstellung befragt die Künstlerin Iden Sungyoung Kim imperialistische Geschichte und deren Wiederholung. Zwischen politischem Kalkül, wissenschaftlichem Experiment und humaner Katastrophe spannt sie einen historischen Bogen vom Manhattan-Projekt (Hiroshima) bis zum weltweiten Nuklearkonflit. Recherche in Archiven und der Zugriff auf Zeitzeuge lassen ein komplexes Narrativ von Konflikt, Risiko, imperialistischer Geste und dem blinden Glauben an wissenschaftlichen Fortschritt erstehen. Mit der Kernforschung bewegen wir uns auf fragilem, politischem Terrain.
